DIFFICULTY:

Richmond Lowlands

Description

An easy ride of approximately 21 kilometres starting on ‘The Terrace’, at Howe Park in Historic Windsor where there is plenty of parking plus picnic shelters with electronic BBQ’s. The ride traverses the Richmond Lowlands through numerous turf farms, Chinese market gardens, and many horse paddocks used by the large Horse Polo Complex which is passed half way through the ride. The ride also passes by cattle farms, sports fields and takes in part of the Hawkesbury ‘Artists Trail’, (https://haat.com.au/). The ride is below the RAAF base in Richmond and an occasional aircraft may be see. Pleasant views of the Blue Mountains are part of the attraction of this ride and if one rides ‘very’ early in the morning they may see a Hot Air Balloon which utilizes the turf farms as its landing area.

The ride is flat and ‘family friendly’ along quite roads and country lanes. Please note that there is no access to the Hawkesbury River and no shelter on this route so Riders should prepare appropriately for the weather conditions, e.g. sun screen, water bottles and rain jacket if necessary
