Description

This is a Women’s Only event

Welcome to RANDWICK CYCLING’s ‘Femmes Come and Try Heffron’, located at Heffron Park. This is an opportunity for you to join with other female riders to build skills and confidence on a criterium circuit with coaching and peer-to-peer support. We will provide structured, safe, and organised training to cater for differing levels of abilities, fitness, and experience. You will need to bring your own bike and helmet and you should be able to comfortably ride your bike.

Participation in this event is FREE

Insurance: We recommend that, for your own peace of mind, you register with AusCycling in advance of the day. AusCycling offer a FREE four-weekly trial of membership that offers insurance in the event of an incident at any time while riding. Please visit https://bit.ly/3V8fz9Q for more information.

Structure:

Whilst we may make minor adjustments on the day, we anticipate the following structure:

  • 11:45am - registration and bike readiness assessment
  • 12:00 - 12:20pm - skills training broken into various groups depending on ability
  • 12:20 - 12:50pm - group riding around Heffron. This is not racing. This session will help you with practical hints about effective cornering and getting used to the track and riding with others around it
  • 12:50 - 1:00pm - practical debrief with Q&A
  • 1:00 - 1:10pm - prize ceremony and your opportunity to climb on the podium and get your photo taken!
  • from 2:25pm - should you want to try racing, we encourage you to register at https://bit.ly/3C9h66Ebut note that you must have the appropriate AusCycling insurance to do so – the AusCycling's 'Come Try Session 4-Week Trial License' insurance does NOT cover you for racing. Please inform one of your rider leaders on the day if you are thinking about joining an actual race.
  • Parking: Where possible, we encourage you to ride your bike to Heffron Park. There are several bike paths that lead to Heffron Park, including from Centennial Park. Please visit https://bit.ly/3RSHfg5 for more details. There is also plenty of car parking available via the Robey Street entrance adjacent to the Des Renford Leisure Centre and surrounding streets.

Toilets: available at the Clubhouse at Heffron Park

Warm up: Please arrive 30 minutes in advance of 12noon should you wish to warm up. A junior development program runs from 1pm, and then adult and juniors' racing for both women and men across five divisions from 2:25pm. Should you feel confident, you are most welcome to participate in the juniors and adult racing. Please discuss with our team on the day the level of grade that you feel is appropriate for you.
