Description


This year, the Blue Wheel Trophy race honours the significant contributions, that Stu Brien as President of the EUREKA Cycling from 2020 to 2024.
Stu led the club through the COVID years and we are all the better for his drive to improve the club in every facet. 
Listed are some of the highlights:

  • led the strategic plan sessions (all short term goals implemented)
  • adopted the Model Rules (replacing the original constitution)
  • created an online entry system (subsequently replaced by Buncheur)
  • developed new website
  • developed the online management system for marshal coordination
  • created the Victorian Masters Challenge (tri-club event with Geelong Surf Coast and Northern Cycling)

The Blue Wheel Trophy was created in the late 2010s to honour current volunteers for their tireless work in assisting Eureka to deliver a full race calendar each season.
Be they non-racing volunteers, accredited officials or committee members, our beloved volunteers are the lifeblood of Eureka and are what separate us from other clubs.
We thank them all and the Blue Wheel Trophy is just a small way we can get honour their contributions.

The Brien is a Handicap Road Race contested on undulating roads in the Victorian Central Highlands.
MASTERS (age 30 and over) only - with a valid AusCycling race license.

Registrations -
Collect race numbers at the Eureka Cycling Club Rooms located at the corner of Foreshore Road and Outlet Road, Learmonth from 8:45 AM.

Registrations close at 9:00 AM

Race Start -
Exact details of the location of the start is available on the day during registration.
Riders must be present at the start line for the Race Briefing which will be conducted 5 minutes before their scheduled start time.

Post race presentations and refreshments -
Riders are requested to bring a plate to share after the event.

The post race spread is what sets Eureka apart from other cycling clubs.
Please stay on to congratulate your fellow competitors during the race presentations and enjoy some Eureka hospitality.

Bring cash for soft drinks and raffle tickets.
FREE tea and coffee.

Disclaimer

This is not a closed road event. The Victorian Road Rules must be adhered to at all times.

Qualified Riders -
MASTERS event ONLY, for riders aged 30 and older.
ALL riders must hold a current AusCycling racing license, or a Trial Membership to race.

Maximum rides for non Eureka members is TWO races per year (excludes Trial Riders and Open/Invitation Races), before an “add-on” membership is required.
Non-Eureka members, must present proof of valid AusCycling racing license to register.

Entry is conditional upon receipt of $10 entry fee.

Scratchings can be made up until 8 AM the morning of the event via this system or emailing the club at eurekacycling@gmail.com

Equipment -
Standard non-powered road bicycles, with curved bars ONLY.
Riders must ensure their equipment is in good working order and have a working, solid (non flashing) tail light and helmet that meets Australian standard AS/NZS 2063.

Race Commissaires may conduct spot checks of equipment and tail lights and reject entries if equipment does not meet required standards.

Gradings / Handicaps -
Gradings and Handicaps will be determined after entries have closed and advised at registration during sign on.
