Welcome to the 6th NSW Safe Cycling ride, hosted by SXCC and supported by Bicycle NSW.
SXCC are SUPER excited to host this safe cycling initiative and club event, thanks so much NSW Safe Cycling for including us!!
Riders: Open to all SXCC members that hold a 15 years+ CA licence. ALL JUNIOR RIDERS (under 17 years) participating in this ride MUST be accompanied by a parent. Other local club members may receive a special invite if numbers allow.
Safety Bibs: Bright yellow safety bibs will be pinned to all riders to create increased awareness of cyclists and safe passing distances by drivers, i.e. 1.5m in speed zones over 60km/hr and 1m in speed zones under 60km/hr.
Sign on and collection of safety bib will be at 6.30am at the bike track. Ride briefing will start 6:40am sharp.
Routes: We’ll cater for everyone!!
100km route will take in the bottom National Park, Stanwell Tops up to Helensburgh, to Sublime Point and return old highway via Darkes Forest. This will be the longest Safety Ride so far and one not to be missed.
88km route will take in the bottom National Park to Stanwell Tops, up to Helensburgh, to Sublime Point before returning directly to the bike track.
70km route will ride direct to Sublime Point via old highway and return.
Safety: Remember, it's a fully supported ride with SXCC and Bicycle NSW in support with safety vehicles and ride leaders. We’ll all have a stop and photo opportunity at Sublime Point!!
Ride Groups:
3 groups for longer routes; Please make sure your strength and skill levels are suitable for the ride.
1 group for shorter ride (may be divided depending on numbers)
The faster group will set off approximately 15minutes after the first groups to ensure we all arrive at Sublime Point together.
Club Group Photo: at Sublime Point before all groups ride back.
Cost: $10 rego fee will include your bright yellow Safety Bib. ($5 will go towards SXCC and $5 towards NSW Safe Cycling). Money will also go towards fuel costs for safety vehicles.
Bicycle NSW have also given us our own discount code i.e.15% discount code 'nswsafecycling' to join Bicycle NSW. This 15% applies to any membership and applies to the already pro-rated membership fee up until 30 June 2021. You need to be insured so I strongly suggest looking at joining. See here for everything your membership offers..... https://bicyclensw.org.au/bnsw-membership/
Coffee Van: a coffee van is being organised to meet us all back at the clubhouse for drinks and snacks.
We cannot wait to see you and #ridesafe :-)
